Tibetan Prayer Wheel - very unusual!

Tibetan prayer wheels are used for spreading spiritual well being. Rolls of thin paper, imprinted with many copies of the mantra (prayer) in an ancient Indian or Tibetan script, are wound around an axle in a protective container, and spun around and around.

The idea is said to have originated over 2,400 years ago from classical Buddhism. Although there are many large wooden prayer wheels all over Tibet, some over 6-feet high - small wheels, like this one for sale, are the most common. Tibetan people carry them around for hours, spinning them continually.
