This beautiful Chinese mahjong set is made up of 144 chips. Pictures show full boxed view + close-ups. Each chip is hand-crafted in Southern China from water-buffalo bone and bamboo. Chip sizes: 1 x 3/4 x 1/2 inch. Total box is 9 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches - two layers deep.
Mahjong is a game that evolved from two popular Chinese games, a domino game invented during the Bei Song Dynasty (1120 A.D.) and a card game (called Ma Diao) that was very popular during the Qing Dynasty (1644 –1911 A.D.).
